Music

Subject Vision and Intent

In KS3, Music is taught once a week in Year 7 and once a fortnight in Year 8 and 9.  Throughout KS3 the Main focus in Music is ‘The Elements of Music’ which are embedded in each topic and is learned through Performance, Composing and Appraising.   The Elements of Music are then developed in KS4.

Each unit of work enables every child to develop their performance and listening skills as well as their confidence by using various instruments and Music Technology.

The department promotes a supportive atmosphere for students to perform for their peers and adults in and out of the school. All members of the school community can learn from each other and are encouraged to draw on and promote their own experiences and cultural heritage.
