Business Studies

Subject Vision and Intent

The Business Studies department at Hodge Hill Girls School aims to prepare students to have a deeper understanding of the vast, dynamic, and complex business environment that affects the lives of individuals every day. Regardless of the career path students choose, it will involve some interaction with businesses. It is, therefore, essential for them to understand the dynamics of how businesses are set up and organised, the key driving factors and inhibitors that influence the business environment and the impact of these on individuals and the wider society.

Our Business Studies Curriculum provides a wealth of opportunities and is designed to give students the scope to explore real business issues and how businesses work whilst developing skills that go beyond simply starting their own business. With a combination of teacher led delivery, independent research, teamwork and presentation activities we aim to enable students to access and engage with the world of business through both practical and theoretical business concepts and prepare students for further study or employment.
