Buffer time for resubmission of coursework units or preparation for resitting of external exam (R081)
In the Autumn term, year 10 pupils will sit a series of practice exam papers prior to their R081 external exam in January. The results of these practice papers will be used as the basis for the year 10 report grades in the Autumn term.
Later in year 10 pupils will complete the R082 controlled assessment which will be internal marked and externally moderated. The combined results from the R081 external examination and the R082 internally assessed coursework grade will provide the basis for the year 10 Spring and Summer report grades.
In year 11 students will already have received the externally assessed grades for R081 and R082. In year 11 students will sit 2 further controlled assessments that are internally marked and externally moderated. Each unit has equal weighting, so an average of these grades will be used to calculate the year 11 Working at Grades and Forecast Grades.
Creative iMedia consists of 4 assessments:
• 1 examination based on R081 worth 25% of the overall qualification
• 3 coursework submissions for units R082,R084 and R087, each unit is 25%. All together worth 75% of the overall qualification.
Creative iMedia is a popular and well-liked vocational optional subject at GCSE, attracting 27% of the current year 11 pupils. Results in summer 2020 showed that 100% of pupils passed the qualification, with 62% of pupils achieving a level 2 qualification.
